This is a standalone novella from the author s Necromancer Chronicles provided as a Patreon giveaway, with the option of reviewing I think Downum is a terrific writer and this is no exception I d recommend reading at least the first two of the Necromancer novels, The Bone Palace in particular to get a feel for the world and the characters This particular story is about a group of immigrants being targeted by a vicious magical killer and the troop of actors who are drawn into helping them Like Downum s other work is dark and atmospheric and the characters come from different cultural backgrounds and orientations mentioned because many fantasy authors do not this kind of worldbuilding as well as she does I suspect Downum fans will want it to be longer, and the ending could have used a bit development, but it s strong enough to be well worth tracking down when it releases shortly.Style a
