Ang Lihim ng San Esteban

Ang Lihim ng San Esteban[Read] ➭ Ang Lihim ng San Esteban By Annette Flores Garcia – Jobs-in-kingston.co.uk It is Jacobo's first time to spend summer vacation in San Esteban in Ilocos and he feels a mix of excitement and nervousness as he travels to his parents' hometown He will surely discover many things It is ng San Epub Ü Jacobo's first time to spend summer vacation in San Esteban in Ilocos and he feels a mix of excitement and nervousness as he travels to his parents' hometown He will surely discover many things about his family from Lola Carmen But he didn't expect to find bigger secrets in the old houses and ghosts of San Esteban Will these prove to be the key to the mystery Lola Carmen keeps trying to hide. Not really a lousy book Especially at the start I thought that the Garcia spent a lot of time doing the right things eg showing not telling almost consistent POV interesting build up of characters etc So I thought that I would somehow like this children's or YA horror bookBut I did not The author did not do anything for me to dislike her book I just did not feel anything after finishing finishing this yesterday It felt like a mediocre book or maybe it was not written for me Ang Lihim ng San Esteban tells the story of an 12 yo boy Jacobo who spends his summer school break in his father's hometown in San Esteban in Ilocos Being an imaginative boy he is very interested to stay there because of the many stories his parents told him about the town when he was still very young There he befriend Emil who is the most intelligent boy Together they discover the secrets about the old haunted house located just beside Jacobo's room in his grandmother's houseRecommended to all young city kids who dream of visiting their parents' hometowns I read this as it is a reuired reading for Grade 5 students It was a uick and easy read FIlipino novel I actually had fun reading it The experience reminded me of reading a children's lit I wouldn't say it is bad It has merits on its own and the author is worth receiving some credit for the effort the imagination and the adroitness with the language it so nice I will admit that my review is a little biased Since Filipino is not my first language it is difficult for me to understand books written in that language In fact the reason I read this was solely so I could complete the Buwan ng Wika Readathon So if the books I had given a five star rating to were written in Tagalog I would probably only give them a three or a fourNow with that aside here’s what I think Objectively the book isn’t really that bad I just thought the plot was overly simplistic and predictable I’m sure children would appreciate this than I did but I don’t think they would fall in love with the book either It’s kind of like the short stories they’re reuired to read for Filipino class easy and light but not really memorable It doesn’t have characters that you could get attached to eitherNormally I would give books with simplistic plots a three star rating So why did I give this 25? That’s where the language part comes inFor someone whose first language is Filipino the vocabulary would be fairly simple And it was actually It just took me a while to process it That’s why it felt like a chore than something I would do for pleasure The story was only a hundred pages but to me it seemed to drag on for 500 It’s not because the pacing is slow; in fact it’s really uick if you ask me It’s just that it’s difficult for me to understand when it’s written in TagalogEven if this book was written in English though I would probably still give it a maximum of three stars The plot isn’t uniue and the story lacked substance If you’re looking for good books to introduce Filipino children to reading I would not suggest this one Maybe kids would enjoy books by Xi Zu They’re also in Filipino in case you’re wondering I don’t know honestly But I know this isn’t the best place to start Kids want stories that have relatable characters and interesting plots and this book had neither So while children might not necessarily hate this it’s unlikely that this would become a favorite Sinadya kong bilhin ang librong ito upang makiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika at hindi ako nagsisi Ito ang unang limbronobelang pambata na nabasa ko na nasa wikang Filipino Gayunpaman nabighani pa rin ako sa kwento Maayos ang pagdaloy ng kwento Maganda ang paglalahad ng may akda at mararamdaman ang kuryosidad ni Jacobo dahil maayos na ipinakota ito sa introspeksyon Malinaw ang tema na angkop sa mga bata pero kadalasan sa mga ginamit na salita ay malalalim partikular na para sa mga batang unang beses susubok bumasa sa wikang ito Maganda ang paglalarawan subalit nakulangan ako sa kahiwagahan ng San Esteban Kulang ang mga tensyon binuo kaya sa tuwing tumataas ang takbo ng kwento nagugulat ako na mahahalagang bahagi pala ang mga ito Nakulangan lang ako sa hatak Wala naman na akong nakitang problema bukod sa madali itong makalimutan Kudos sa manunulat at sa tagasalin For a kid's book it got meYou'd expect an attempt of a horror story aimed for children Well it kinda did in a way It tried to imply supernatural horror though but the latter half paved way of another form of horror A refreshing read in these times Forgot what it was about Totally not that memorable Hindi ko namalayang isa itong kuwentong pambata subalit masaya itong basahin lalo na't tungkol ito sa mga alaalang lumilipas at sa mga bagay na mahahalaga't nararapat lamang matira rjrkdnskwl Ang Lihim ng San Esteban ay isang chapter book kung saan ang target na mambabasa nito ay mga bata Ang kwento ay hinati sa maliliit na chapters dahil na rin mayroong maikling attention span ang mga bataNakakatuwa dahil second hand ko ito binili at may mga marka ito ng naunang may ari may linya ang ibang salita na tingin ko ay dito niya unang naencounter Mabilis lang ang phasing ng istorya dahil nga isa itong chapter book Nagustuhan ko din ito dahil hindi lang kakatakutan ang laman nito nagbigay din ito ng idea kung ano ang buhay noong sinakop tayo ng mga haponAng rating ko ay inilelebel ko kung sinong target reader ng ganitong akda Para sa pangbatang babasahin na gusto ng katatakutan ayos ito
